CRUINNIU 2008, AUGUST 15 - 18
MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW!

This year's Annual Claddagh to Kinvara Race, for an Crinniu, will be dedicated to and celebrate the life of Mikey Lynskey. Mikey lost his life to cancer this year. Together with his wife, Renee, he was a great supporter of the Festival over the years and never missed a Crinniu. He skippered his Gleoteog (along with his father Mike - King of Claddagh) to Victory many times at this event. The Cup being created in his memory is the "Mikey Lynskey Memorial Cup" .

Mikey demanded a trim sail and, as Skipper, was never shy about being vocal on board, especially on entering the river on the way to the Claddagh Quay. We remember his smiling face, his quick wit, and his frank and honest opinion.

He is sadly missed by his great friend and wife Renee, their children Dawn and Kieran, Annie his mother, his father Mike, brothers Sean and Pa, his many friends and relatives, and all others from foreign shores which he introduced to our traditional craft and this festival. May he rest in peace.

We would like to thank all of those businesses and patrons who have supported us over the years, but especially our main sponsor, CityJet, for their generosity towards Cruinniu na m Bad.

Thanks also to the boat owners and families and supporters , from Connemara and elsewhere.

This years poster by Joe Boske features Pat Jennings from Carna and Long Walk, Galway. The inset is his old Nobby . "Columbia" . Pat is now in his 90s and has continued to fish and sail until fairly recently. Pats contribution, and that of his family, has been has been a vital part of the revival of the Galway Hookers.

Finally thanks to all our helpers over the weekend from Kinvara and elsewhere

We hope you enjoy this 29 th Cruinniu na mBad
